11 senators to hear Waiguru’s impeachment motion

A special committee will investigate allegations by Kirinyaga County Assembly that led to the impeachment of Governor Anne Waiguru.

The senators voted Tuesday in favour of having an 11-member team to hear the impeachment motion against the Kirinyaga county boss. 

A total of 45 senators voted to form a special committee, 14 voted no while one senator abstained. 

The team has 10 days to investigate the allegations and submit a report to Senate.

The members of the committee are: Abshiro Halake, Michael Mbito, Paul Githiomi, Beth Mugo, Anwar Loitiptip, Philip Mpayei, Cleophas Malala, Beatrice Kwamboka, Stewart Madzayo, Judith Pareno and Moses Kajwang.
