NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 20 – A total of 1,146 candidates who sat for the 2022 Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) scored a mean grade of A, while 173,345 obtained a minimum university entry grade of C plus and above.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu who formally announced the KCSE results Friday noted an improved performance in the 2022 KCSE, compared to 2021.
“Candidates with C+ and above in the 2022 KCSE have risen to 173,345 an increase of 19.03 per cent,” the CS stated.
At the same time, the number of candidates with a mean grade of D+ and above in the 2022 KCSE examination is 522,588, compared to 442,251 in 2021.
30,822 candidates had grade E.
Out of the 881,416 candidates sat for the 2022 KCSE, the CS reported that 443,644 were male while 437,772 were female representing 50.33% and 49.69% respectively.
According to the CS, the above statistics reflects that the country has achieved gender parity.
“14 counties had more male than female candidates in the 2022 KCSE compared to 17counties in 2021,” he said.
The results further indicated that male performed better than females.
