Musicians Eunice Njeri and Jabidii were the biggest winners of the 14th edition of Groove Awards held at the Movenpick Hotel in Westlands on Saturday night.
Eunice Njeri was the overall winner in the awards when she walked away with the artiste of the year award. She also won Worship Song of the Year.
Jabidii won in the Song of the Year, Dance Style Song of the Year, Reggae/Ragga Song of the Year, Collabo of the Year and Teen’s Choice Song of the Year categories.
Following her Artiste of the year win, Eunice Njeri will tour Dubai for five days courtesy of Bonfire Adventures, get airtime from Safaricom, a sponsorship from the company’s Masoko shopping platform worth Sh30,000 and free rides from the company’s cab platform, Little Cab, fuel worth Sh50,000 from Shell and Pace Africa headphones.
For winning Song of the Year Jabidii and Moji Short Baba will get airtime from Safaricom, sponsorship by the company’s Masoko shopping platform worth Sh30,000 and free rides from the company’s cab platform, Little Cab, fuel worth Sh50,000 from Shell, Pace Africa headphones and a five-day trip to Mombasa courtesy of Bonfire Adventures.
For the second year running, Jabidii walked away with the most awards of the night, as he won in all the categories he was nominated for, except for the Artiste of the Year.
In the nominations Jabidii got the nod 11 times, the most in the history of the award, breaking the record that he set last year where he had received seven nominations. The awards attracted a big crowd, to the surprise of the organisers.
Through Pastor Kuchio, the organisers confessed that it was difficult to organise the awards due to issues that he did not want to get into but which Monday Blues learnt were financial, as many of their sponsors had pulled out.
