$500K ASME Innovation Showcase opens applications 2020 competition

The ASME Innovation Showcase (ISHOW), is a global competition for hardware-led ventures has announced application for its 2020 annual competition are open for top social innovators from around the world.

ISHOW says this year’s applicants should have an existing prototype and be interested in receiving financing, technical support and access to industry networks to assist in taking their product to market. 

In-person showcase events will take place in India on April 16, in Nairobi Kenya on May 6 and in the USA on June 25. Applications are open now through February 20, 2020 to win a share of $500K in prizes and a design and engineering review led by industry experts.

ISHOW is looking for individuals and organizations taking physical products to market that will have a positive social and environmental impact. Applicants should have an existing prototype and be interested in receiving financing, technical support and access to industry networks to assist in taking their product to market.

ISHOW participants will receive feedback on their idea, interact with multidisciplinary experts familiar with frontier markets, and gain access to industry best practices. Finalists receive product exposure, advice, technical insights through ISHOW’s rigorous review methodology, and compete for $500,000 in seed grants, in-kind support, design services, travel stipends, and marketing & business development assets.

9 innovators will be invited to New York City for the annual ISHOW Bootcamp to receive an extensive design and engineering review by a panel of experts and a chance to earn a second round of seed grants and consultations. Winners become part of the ISHOW alumni network, an international community of hardware innovators and stakeholders with exclusive access to experts and resources.

ISHOW defines hardware-led social innovation as taking a physical product to market to solve a social or environmental problem by utilizing a sustainable business model.

Since 2015, ISHOW finalists and winners have focused on many problems defined by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and provided technology solutions to address the following:
