73 new COVID-19 cases reported as 162 patients recover

Seventy-three people have tested positive of COVID-19 bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases in the country to 341,116.

The new cases were confirmed out of a sample size of 603 tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings the country’s cumulative tests to 3,936,067 so far.

Of the 73 people who have tested positive, 39 are male while 34 are female with the youngest aged 1 while the oldest is aged 85.

Nairobi County leads with 38 cases followed by Kilifi which has 10 cases, Kericho 5, Uasin Gishu 4 and Kiambu 3.

Three cases have been confirmed in Kisumu, 3 in Nyeri, 2 cases in Kisii and Narok each while only one case has been reported in Homa Bay, Siaya and Nakuru.

In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Wafula says 162 patients have recovered from the disease, 161 from the Home-based Care and Isolation program while one is from a health facility countrywide.

This now pushes the total recoveries to 334,693 of whom 281,021 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,672 are from various health facilities across the country.

No fatalities were recorded during the period under review hence the cumulative fatalities still stands at 5,684.

“There are 30 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 745 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. Three other patients are on supplemental oxygen, all of them are in the General ward,” CS Wafula adds.

As of November 21, 2022, a total of 22,853,031 vaccines had been administered across the country.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 9,816 while the total number of people fully vaccinated over the last 24 hours stand at 3,096.
