Kenya Population Based HIV Impact Assessment (KPHIA) has launched a HIV/AIDS survey across all 20 wards in Taita Taveta County.
The study aims at collecting data of all infected persons and their health status.
The study is the first phase of a nationwide exercise targeting over 20,000 households.
Taita Taveta County Executive in Charge of Health Dr. Frank Mwangemi says the rate of HIV prevalence in the County has reduced from 6.3% to 4.1% due to joint measures by both Government and stakeholders

However despite community sensitization campaigns Dr. Mwangemi further says research has revealed that most affected population is the youths.
Kenya Population Based HIV Impact Assessment (KPHIA) National Director James Kamau has challenged County governments to utilize available resources like Beyond Zero mobile clinics in creating more public awareness on the importance of testing and living a healthy life after a HIV diagnosis.
