The last week has been extremely confusing for Vera Sidika fans. This is because they have seen her transform into a dark-skinned woman 5 years after she lightened her skin. Before fans could adjust to her new look she was back to looking like a porcelain doll.
As it turns out, Vera Sidika’s black Barbie look was the work of a talented artist Miss Keysha Makeup who has worked on the likes of Anerlisa Muigai and Sharon Mwangi.
The look was employed for Vera’s Mimi video and even Miss Kaysha was pleasantly surprised with her work.
“Honestly I wasn’t sure if could pull this off but … ooh well .. y’all don’t call me Keysha the TRANSFORMER for nothing,” she posted.
A post on Vera Sidika Beauty Parlor’s page confirmed that the look had been achieved by makeup and not tanning as some had speculated.
“Hair and Makeup done @verasidikabeautyparlor …no tan here just professional makeup,” read the post.
Reason for Transformation
In an interview over the weekend, Vera revealed that she changed her look because she wanted to feel more like herself after 5 years of being light.
“I feel like my body is my business. I said that when the whole things started. It has been 5 years, it has been an amazing journey and I wanted something different so I got to a point that I just wanted to be me. I did this because I want to be me. Some claimed that I was broke so I couldn’t afford to maintain myself, I have businesses honey so I am good…It was a one-off thing (the skin lightening procedure) so people who are saying that I’m broke maybe think that I get to do this every day but it’s not the case. I feel amazing. I look amazing right?” she said on The Trend.
