Jada Pinkett Smith has recalled someone calling child protective services on her and husband Will Smith, accusing them of ‘abusing’ their daughter Willow.
Speaking to MailOnline at a screening of Red Table Talk in London, Jada, 47, said nothing she has ever admitted on her candid talk show series has ever caused conflict within her family because they can weather any storm.
Discussing the worst thing that had ever happened, she said:
‘We’ve been through so much as a family, it takes a lot to rock us.
Once you’ve survived having child protection services come to your house because someone called and said, “You’re abusing Willow, you’re not feeding her.
When you’ve gone through crazy stuff like that, whatever you’ve spoke about at the Red Table Talk, doesn’t mean anything, due to the storms you’ve survived off of that table [and being so open].
‘We’ve survived so much as a family, so that’s one of the things I’m grateful for. We hold it down together and give each other that freedom to speak our truth.’
The incident happened in 2014 when Willow (now 18) was 13 and a photo of her lying on a bed alongside her friend, 20-year-old Moises Arias, appeared online.
However, the couple were cleared after the Los Angeles Department of Children & Family Services investigated.
Jada and Will denied there was anything inappropriate about the image, saying Willow could decide for herself who she spent time with.
‘There was nothing se3ual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it. You’re acting like covert pedophiles and that’s not cool’, Jada told TMZ at the time.
Jada’s candid and personal admission came at the screening of Facebook Watch: Red Table Talk season 2 at the Ham Yard Hotel, London on Thursday.
The actress caught the eye in striking yellow co-ords paired with a chunky gold necklace as she greeted fans at the event.
The stylish shirt featured dramatic flared sleeves while the trousers cinched in at the star’s ankles.
