30 suspected gang members accused of being behind the Bamburi attacks were on Wednesday detained for two more weeks to allow the court determine their ages.
Senior Magistrate Edgar Kagioni ordered that they be remanded until September 4 to establish if they are students.
Eight of them claim to be below 18 years while another nine insist that they are students at secondary schools around Mombasa.
On Wednesday, they were arraigned and charged with ten counts of armed robbery.
However, they remain detained until the court can determine whether to release them on bond or not.
The court heard that on August 5, 2019, in Lakeview area of Bamburi, Nyali Constituency in Mombasa County, the accused persons attacked Wilfred Nicholas Mwangi while heavily armed with pangas and knives.
They allegedly robbed him of Ksh. 126,000 in cash and a mobile phone worth Ksh. 13,999.
The court was also told that the gang identifies as ‘Wakali Kwanza’ and also robbed area residents of an unknown amount of money.
They were also charged with illegal possession of military uniforms and trafficking 77 sachets of heroin valued at Ksh. 15,400.
On Wednesday, all the suspects pleaded not guilty,
