– A census official stationed at Sioyo village had locked up the gadgets in his workshop

Residents of Sioyo area, Kapenguria, in west Pokot county are not sure whether they will be counted or not after unknown people stole census equipment belonging to one of the officials.
In a police report filed at Kapenguria Police Station, a census content supervisor Adrian Kemei locked up the equipment at his workshop within Sioyo shopping centre.

“That on the 22/3/2019 he securely locked his workshop located at Siyoi center and left there in his census equipment including; tablet s/no 155354 Imei/no 868758032217113, Usb cable, adapter, power bank, badge, reflector jacket and a bag,”
When he went to pick up the items on Friday, August 23, he found it had been broken and all the items stolen.
Police visited the scene, no recovery made so far and investigations are ongoing.

Elsewhere, an official in Lugari, Kakamega county, has fallen into a shallow stream with gadgets which got water logged.
According to a police report filed at Turbo Police Station, census enumerator Celsso Aginga who was deployed at Sossian village got drunk while marking houses in readiness for the exercise.
“He apparently got too drunk to the extent of falling in a shallow stream with the enumerator’s gadget serial No. 3708020301015EA which got water logged. He was rescued by village elders and escorted to the post so as to prevent theft or loss of the crucial gadget,” read the police report.

The official is currently in police custody and the gadget was safely kept in the armoury.
As earlier reported by TUKO.co.ke, another census official in Nyamira county mortgaged tablet and power bank for beer.
The unidentified official, who is an ICT expert is said to have wanted to quench his thirst but he did not have the money to pay for his drink and instead chose to exchange the items for beer.
