A Kenyan-born woman in Georgia is seeking to be elected to the Kennesaw City Council in the upcoming election.
Ms. Karen Gitau, who was recently nominated for the 6th annual Cobb County Community Service award, will run in the November 5th elections, according to KNS Media.
She banks on votes from thousands of Kenyans in the Atlanta Metropolitan area who have acquired US citizenship and registered as voters to secure the prestigious seat.
Kenyans who know her are reaching out to their compatriots as well as Americans to vote for Ms. Gitau.
Information on the Kenyanparentsinusa.com shows Ms. Karen, through her Global Media Outreach, has helped many people to find solace and comfort in the Christian faith.
She has also assisted those in abusive marriages, kids with special needs and people struggling with suicidal thoughts, controlled substance abuse, depression, homelessness as well as alcoholism.
“The only way we can show our love and support to this ambitious young lady is by coming out like safari ants and cast a vote for her as she truly deserves to continue serving the community in another capacity,” said Dr. DK Gitau, the President of Kenyan Parents in the USA organization.
Christine Muchene, a Kenyan Community organizer in Georgia, appealed to Kenyans to register and turn out in large numbers to vote for Ms. Gitau.

I am liking this. I request all Kenyan churches to call heaven for these two today,” she posted online.
Kenyan American Community Church (KACC) Rev Dr. GG Gitahi noted: “We can do great things in this community if we stick together and support those of us who seek elective positions. It is good for us as a community of immigrants. Even if you are not a voter, pass the word around.”
Fannuel Mugendi Murianki wrote: “Can’t wait to vote my dream come true! Let’s support Karen by showing up and casting votes.”
