Manyatta MP John Muchiri has supported demands by residents of Mwea Settlement Scheme for fresh subdivision of the 17,000-hectare land.

The land was demarcated and subdivided in 2016 by the county government in conjunction with the Ministry of Lands and the National Land Commission, but the residents have been protesting over claims that deserving people were left out.
The Government stopped resettling beneficiaries after violent protests erupted in the scheme.
Muchiri said the repeat subdivision should be transparent so that deserving people benefit.

The legislator was speaking at the weekend during a funds drive at Kitololoni Catholic Parish in Mbeere South sub-county.
He gave Sh600,000 and presented Sh300,000 from Deputy President William Ruto.
