Kelvin Maynard has been shot dead in Amsterdam by two men riding a motorcycle.

Police confirmed that the former Burton Albion star was driving his car in Langbroekdreef when the shooting incident occurred.

According to De Telegraaf, the 32-year-old Dutchman was attempting to escape the gunmen, as he drove towards a nearby fire station.

But it is claimed that his car hit the entrance of the building and was unable to be revived back to life.

“We can confirm that the fatal victim of the shooting incident on Langbroekdreef last night was 32-year-old Kelvin Maynard,” Amsterdam authorities were quoted saying.

Manyard joined Burton from Antwerp in 2014 when his countryman Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink was manager at the English club.

But he suffered a knee injury shortly after earning a new one year deal in a pre-season friendly against Derby County.

Maynard then returned to Dutch football in 2016 and signed for SV Spakenburg where he played nine matches, scoring one goal.
