3000m Steeplechase World Record holder Beatrice Chepkoech won Kenya a second gold medal in the on-going IAAF Athletics World Championship in Doha Qatar Monday night.

Chepkoech timed 8mins 57.84 secs as another Kenyan Hyvin Kiyeng finished in the 8th position.

The 28-year-old was followed by United States’ Emmah Coburn who clocked 9mins 02.35 seconds while Gesa Felicitas of Germany clinched a bronze medal after timing 9mins 03.30 seconds.

2015 World champion Hyvin Kiyeng finished in the 8th position clocking 9mins 13.53 seconds.

Meanwhile, Eunice Sum finished in the 5th position in the 800m race timing 1min 59.71 seconds.

The race was won by Ugandan Halima Nakaayi in 1min 58.04 secs. The men’s 5000m race was won by Ethiopian Muktar Edris in 12mins 58.85 secs.

Kenyans Jacob Krop and Nicholas Kimeli finished in the 6th and 8th positions respectively.

Kenya currently sits at the fourth position on medal standings with 2 gold medals and one bronze medal.

The only Kenyan in the 400m Alphas Kishoyan will seek a brilliant performance in order to cruise to the semi-finals.

Other Kenyans who will be in action on Tuesday include Leonard Bett in the 3000m steeplechase alongside Abraham Kibiwot, Benjamin Kigen and Conseslus Kipruto.

Ferguson Rotich will line up in the 800m final.
