A policeman is fighting for his life in hospital after a motorbike rider knocked him down at a roadblock in Nyamira.
According to Masaba North Deputy County Commissioner Benson Leparimoricho, the officer who is a mobile traffic policeman, was on duty at a roadblock near Masaba sub county hospital along the Keroka-Masimba Highway.
The rider who was identified as Jackson Entwapo, aged 30, was riding towards Keroka Town but upon being waved down by the policeman, he allegedly rammed into the officer, George Matundura, knocking him down.
A pillion passenger, 40-year-old woman, who was riding on Entwapo’s motorcycle was also injured in the melee.

“It so happened that the said police officer was on normal traffic check with other police officers at the said (sic) area when the motor cyclist who was riding from Masimba heading towards Keroka Town failed to stop and knocked down the police officer,” said the Commissioner.
The incident occurred at around 4pm on Sunday.
