Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has opened the lid on his favourite set of players he managed during his reign at the north London club.
Wenger spent 22 years at the helm of affairs at Arsenal, before quitting the role at the end of 2018 following the club’s massive decline.
However, despite his lows at the club, the Frenchman enjoyed a relatively successful career with the Gunners, winning three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.
Reflecting on his managerial career at the Emirates, Wenger revealed the 2004-title winning team was the greatest side he managed as they ended the season unbeaten.
“You would say the Invincibles – it’s an easy question to answer,” the tactician was quoted saying.
“My dream was always to play a season without losing a game so I cannot go against that. But as well I must say I inherited a team of men when I came to Arsenal – this was the team that won in 98,” he added.
The 69-year-old went on to name Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Martin Keown, Sol Campbell, Toure and Ashley Cole among the list of players who impressed him.
Meanwhile, Wenger has continually made public his desire to return to football management but he is yet to accept an offer.
He has also been widely linked with a role within the world football governing body, FIFA.
