Top Fry Nakuru head coach Felix Oloo has defended from accusations they intentionally surrendered to be battered 31-5 by Menengai Oilers in protest over delayed pay.

Oloo confirmed the players have not received their allowances and medical cover and are staging a go-slow but said he was certain the issue will soon be resolved.

“There has been go-slow in the team but it’s being sorted out basically there are a lot of issues which I’m trying to address pertaining player welfare in terms of their allowances not coming on time, medical insurance, house allowance and being unappreciated,” Oloo told Citizen Digital.

The Wanyore showed little fight in the manner they went down to Oilers but Oloo emphasized their performance was not linked to their off-field woes, saying the opposition had simply been too good on the day.

“I believe the players played their level best according to the training session we had and I don’t believe there could be much change in the match because I only believe in training so if you don’t train don’t expect to win,” explained Oloo.

“According to me, they played their best according to the training session we had, having in mind that my team is full of youngsters with only six senior players,” he added.

The former Nakuru player hopes that all will be well and he will be able to retain his senior players so that they can maintain their Kenya Cup core status.

“We have to deal with the situation we have and be able to manage the player’s expectations and if all the senior players come back in the squad I assure you Nakuru will be title contenders,” believed Oloo.

“But at the same time if they refuse to come back to the team I will have no option rather than use the current team and ensure they play their best to win games,” said Oloo.

Nakuru will host Menengai Cream Homeboys at the NAC grounds, Nakuru this weekend.
