Baringo Senator Gideon Moi says the health status of retired president Daniel Arap Moi has been improving since he was re-admitted to Nairobi Hospital on November 9th.

Gideon, who spoke on Friday when he presided over Kabarak University’s 15th graduation ceremony, however, admitted that Moi’s health is not at its best and urged Kenyans to continue praying for him.

“I wish to thank each one of you, on behalf of my family, for your prayers. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude for praying and thinking of Mzee Moi at this time as you all know he is not in the best of his health,” said Moi.

“With prayers and thoughts, he has been improving day by day.”

Moi, 95, has been taken to Nairobi Hospital at least three times in the past three months, the most recent one being on November 9th after he allegedly developed breathing complications.

Moi has been receiving special care at the hospital’s VIP wing, a homely setup, and will only be discharged once doctors give him a clean bill of health, his press secretary Lee Njiru said. The nonagenarian is under the care of a team of doctors led by his personal physician Dr. David Silverstein.

President Kenyatta visited Moi-his political mentor-at the hospital on November 15th, where they are said to have had a lengthy talk.
