All the five elected legislators in Kirinyaga County have told off the Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju over the impending impeachment of Governor Anne Waiguru.
The leaders have also in the same vein told the area County Commissioner to stick to his security matters and leave the Assembly affairs to the elected MCAs.
Addressing the media at a Sagana town hotel Monday evening, the parliamentarians further termed calls by the county Jubilee party chairman Murithi Kangara that the nominated MCAs who have signed a memorandum to have Waiguru impeached should have their nominations revoked as his own views and not necessarily that of the party.
Led by the Kirinyaga Central MP Munene Wambugu, his Mwea counterpart Kabinga Wachira, George Kariuki (Ndia), Gichimu Githinji (Gichugu) and the County Women representative Wangui Ngirichi, the leaders wondered why Tuju was interfering with the area county assembly yet when the same happened in Kiambu he went silent.

“Tuju, kindly stick to your party mandate and leave the affairs of our County Assembly which is an independent entity just like the National Assembly and the Senate,” Wambugu said.
The legislators also told the party secretary general that he has no legal mandate to sack the Assembly Majority Leader Kamau Murango vide his last week’s letter.
“Only the County Assembly members who have such a mandate and we therefore wonder what Tuju is up to,” said Kariuki.
Added Kariuki “Tuju should keep off the affairs of the Kirinyaga County Assembly and let the MCAs carry out their duty as mandated by the constitution.”
Kariuki said Tuju should have convened a meeting for all the Jubilee organs which would have, after the deliberations, given him the mandate to sack the Majority leader and not through his witch hunting.
On his part, Wachira reminded Tuju that Murango was elected through a majority vote by the MCAs and only them who could vote him out.
He called upon Njoka to stop forthwith to interfere with the assembly matters and leave it to the Speaker who runs the assembly and will liaise with the area medical officer of health over the social distance the MCAs should maintain while conducting their business.
Ngirichi told off Jubilee grass root leaders to stop politicizing the affairs of the assembly which is an independent body.
“Those who are politicizing the matter should be treated with ultimate contempt they deserve and we warn them to keep off and stop their unsolicited opinions and threats,” she said.
Githinji asked Waiguru to allow the process to continue since she will be accorded an opportunity when time comes to defend herself against the charges the MCAs have preferred against her.
“For the time being these are just allegations but when time comes, she will appear before the assembly and clear her name but should the MCAs fail to do so then we will ensure she is given that chance,” Githinji said.
Procedurally the motion comes for debate this Wednesday after which Waiguru will be accorded a chance to defend herself before a vote is taken.
