Kuria East and Kuria West Constituencies which have reported a coronavirus infection case received at least 5,000 liters of sanitiser each.

The situation in the County has prompted the Government to reinforce distribution of the sanitisers in the two areas bordering Tanzania.

Kuria East Member of Parliament Marwa Kitayama thanked the Government for recognizing the need to keep Migori safe in view of its proximity to Tanzania where rate of infections remains high.

He said the sanitisers will be evenly distributed to ensure the spread of the virus is contained.

Marwa asked the locals not to welcome relatives in their homes until the virus is contained.

The MP however challenged those claiming that the Jubilee led government is doing nothing to control the spread of the virus to assess the measures fronted by the Government in every Kenyan village.

Kitayama said the work done by the security teams and Nyumba Kumi network to restrict movement of people in Kuria Sub-Counties has born fruits.

Asha Okanga, Kuria East Public Health Officer asked the locals to report anybody they suspect to have travelled from far noting that the virus will be contained if everybody adheres to the laid down guidelines.

Speaking separately Kuria West Member of Parliament Mathias Robi said the Government should increase security patrol at the border and challenged the residents to strictly follow the Ministry of Health rules of social distance, handwashing, sanitizing and use of face masks.
