National women volleyball team-Malkia Strikers, who are Olympic bound; have embarked on a low altitude training program in Mombasa.
This was occasioned by the cancellation of the High-performance training camp that was scheduled to take place in Brazil, as part of the Kenya Empowerment Program by FIVB.
“The choice to go and train in Mombasa offers the Team an ideal environment that mirrors the expected one in Tokyo during the Olympics and also similar to what was expected in Brazil.” Said Francis Mutuku the Olympics Kenya Secretary General.
“While in Mombasa, the Malkia Strikers will be joined by the various technical officials recently unveiled by Olympics Kenya to offer the Team Kenya an-all rounded support ranging from nutrition, strength and conditioning, psychological, among others as a complement to what their coaches and Managers are offering.” He further added.

While in Mombasa, the Volleyball queens will train under the strict bubble environment they have been used to at Kenyatta University in Nairobi.
