Jubilee party leaders in Turkana County have disassociated themselves from any acts of violence in the campaigns as was witnessed in Lodwar on Wednesday.
Led by its Gubernatorial flag bearer John Munyes and Senate candidate James Lomenen, the leaders condemned acts of tension saying they had no role in the chaos.
The confusion happened during the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya party presidential candidate’s tour of the county to promote his election bid on august 22.
Munyes said the party leaders held a meeting with Odinga before he left the county after the campaigns in the area and ironed out issues including the pecking order of the county candidates.
“Infiltration of the meeting by UDA supporters also contributed to the confusion during Odinga’s rally in Lodwar,” said Munyes who went further to condemn any acts of violence and urged all candidates to be peaceful.
Munyes’ supporters felt slighted after he was called to invite Loima MP Jeremiah Lomurukai of ODM who is also vying for governor’s seat. His supporters argued that Munyes was the senior and it was wrong to be called upon to invite Lomurukai.
Lomenen on his part said the party had been sidelined in preparations for the Odinga campaigns including decisions on the campaign centres during the tour.
The leaders also took time to ask for votes for Odinga and Jubilee candidates who include Susan Aletia who is contesting for woman MP seat as well as all other Jubilee candidates.
Munyes also called on the County Government to ensure it distributes relief food to those affected by hunger.
