Life and Peace Institute is one of the groups that have organized peace activities in Mathare, Kayole, Ruaraka among other places to enhance cohesion.

“Mayut wote tusikubali kuwa manipulated na Hawa wasee saa hii …tusibleed ndio walead..Mbona saa hii ndio wamekazana na sisi Kwa ground hizo masiku zingine wakuanga wapi ..halafu tena kitu ingine nimeona hawa politician wanapenda ma informal settlement juu wanajua sisi tuko juu ya mawe wanaweza tukoroga vile wanadai tuchanuke na tulenge story za kutumika.” Kiprich Kayole resident said.

Same were echoed by Pablo who has asked his fellow youths to be vigilant and shun violence.

“It starts with us we must play smart and remain united. Politicians will come and go but we shall remain in the same hood facing the same challenges,” Pablo added.

Meanwhile in Viwandani ward Makadara sub-county Francis Okong’o youth leader in the area has warned assistant chiefs and village elders not to be used to coerce residents to vote in a particular manner.

Okong’o says the political temperatures are high in the area after reports that village elders were telling residents to vote in a particular direction.

“We are asking our administration officers to stop engaging in politics, it against the law and we shall not allow it,” Okongo told Ghetto Radio News on phone.
