Former Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi has expressed concern on the use of manual register in the forthcoming election saying it’s likely to compromise the outcome.

Ndathi said the decision by the Court compelling IEBC to use the manual register was a disservice to the Commission which had insisted on using the electronic register.

Ndathi who is seeking to recapture his seat as an independent candidate said the manual register is a percussor to rigging saying the presiding officers and the agents can deliberately interfere with the credibility of the elections.

“We had been guaranteed by the IEBC that the number KIEMS kits that they have would be in working condition and that they had spare ones could some fail to work,” He said.

Ndathi said unlike in the last election of 2017, he is happy with the preparations by IEBC saying the commission has taken them through the process of voting and trained them on what is required of them.

He has urged the IEBC to keep to their word on timelines by ensuring that polling stations open at 6am as planned.

Ndathi said IEBC has promised to allow their agents to peruse ballot papers as well as monitor KIEMS kits after every two hours of voting to enhance credibility of the poll.

He called for peace during the elections and urged residents to elect leaders who will propel the County to better heights.
