Sony has made an unexpected announcement: the PlayStation 5 system, released over two years ago, will cost more. Except for the USA, practically every country globally is increasing the price.
The console will remain available at the same price in the USA. The older edition will cost $500, while the PS5 Digital Edition will cost $400.
Our first aim is to improve the PS5 supply situation so that as many gamers as possible may enjoy all the PS5 has to offer and what is still to come. This price hike is necessary given the present state of the global economy and how it affects SIE’s business.
