Mcdonald Okoth shares his story on how he managed to score an A- in KCSE 2017
His life started at in humble family in Siaya County before adoption by his aunt in Nairobi. Raised by a single mother as a first born of many siblings, his mother was extremely challenged.
His aunt enrolled him to Olympic Primary School from class four. In Kibera slums, he defied all all odds to score 413 marks, a grade that earned him a full scholarship to join Maranda High School courtesy of Wings to Fly, a Equity Group Foundation in conjunction with Equity Bank education program.
How To Score An A In KCSE
Mcdonald worked his way to Maranda High School and later joined prestigious Kenyatta University where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. Based on his performance, he is also an attached at Equity bank as an intern under the mentirship and leadership program.
In an interview with Ghetto Radio, Mcdonald shared nugget of wisdom how students can score an A- effortlessly
- Identify and Work on your weakness .
To scale academic ladder,learner need to accept that they are not perfect in all subjects and identity subjects that are challenging and put relatively much effort on them
- Choose subjects that will boost your grades.
Students always find themselves between a rock and rock and a hard place when it comes to subjects selection, some students prefer subjects that will portray them as sharp,according to Mcdonald what matters are subjects combination that learners are comfortable with and that boost their overall grades
3.Having a timetable that prioritise challenging subjects.
Mcdonald says Timetable is very crucial elements in makes learners not only consistent but also discipline, he intimates that a ideal timtible must have the most challenging subjects or topics allocated much time

How to apply for Wings Fly Scholarship program
Equity Wings To Fly Scholarship application is made at all Equity Bank branches, Equity Agents and on the Equity Group Foundation’s Website.
Beneficiaries of the scholarship are selected by the Community Scholarship Selection Board (CSSB), which is made up of key leaders in the community and is chaired by the County or sub-County Director of Education.
Equity Wings To Fly Scholarship Application 2023 Requirements
A successful applicant for the Wings to Fly Scholarship should be:
- Academically Promising – top 5th percentile performing student in their Sub-County in the 2022 KCPE results.
- Orphaned or from vulnerable backgrounds (as defined below):
(a) Children who have lost one or both parents and have no relative or guardian or sponsor to provide for their secondary education – evidence in form of Death Certificates/Burial Permits/letter from your Chief should be attached.
(b) Children whose parents are physically or mentally challenged and are unable to educate their children and have no relative or guardian or sponsor to provide for their secondary education.
(c) Children whose parents are living with HIV/AIDS or other chronic debilitating illnesses and are unable to educate their children and have no relative or guardian or sponsor to provide for their secondary education – medical records should be sought.
(d) Children from families affected by natural disasters such as flooding, drought, famine or civil conflict are unable to educate their children and have no relative or guardian or sponsor to provide for their secondary education – the family’s current living conditions.
(e) Children who have suffered neglect and/or abandonment and have no relative or guardian or sponsor to provide for their secondary education.
Children with parents living in extreme poverty and have no relative or guardian or sponsor to provide for their secondary education.

The applicant should create a new account through the Equity Wings To Fly portal; https://egfdmis.equitybank.co.ke and fill in the 2023 application form for consideration before 4th January 2023
