Porsche will donate €1 million to earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria. The company donated to Aktion Deutschland Hilft.
“Our thoughts are with the victims and all those who have lost family members, friends, or their homes and livelihoods in this devastating disaster,” said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.
Porsche says its contribution will be used for immediate humanitarian aid on the ground, such as shelter, clean-up, and securing dangerous areas. It could also help with the search for missing people, as well as medical assistance, food procurement, and catering for emergency personnel.
Porsche is also encouraging its employees to donate through the Porsche Hilft (Porsche Helps) portal. The automaker has chosen four well-known aid organizations that are currently working in the affected countries.
On February 6, around 4 a.m. local time, an earthquake struck near the Turkey-Syria border, when most people were still sleeping. Rescuers are still finding people alive in the rubble. However, for these rescue efforts, time is of the essence.
