A section of sex workers today held a peaceful walk decrying the shortage of condoms in the country.
The sex workers say that this is despite reports that there is super gonorrhea ravaging lives in the country.
The sex workers from Bar Hostess organisaition say that the shortage has persisted since last year.
“This shortage has affected business for quite some time now because how do we protect ourselves from the super gonorrhea that is currently ravaging the country?” posed Mercy a sex worker.
“Our clients on the other hand also refuse to buy condoms, they are taking advantage of the shortage to demand sex for free,” she said.
The have further called upon people to normalize the use of condoms in order to protect themselves from STIs.
“This is the only way to protect yourself from both STIs and pregnancy. We want people who are sexually active to normalize the use of condoms,” said the sexworkers.
Most of them have now resorted to use the female condom in order to protect themselves.
Today the World marked the World Condom Day in order to sensitize the use of protected sex.
