A man was arraigned before the Kibera Law Courts on Friday for allegedly beating up a woman and attempting to stab her with a dagger.
Stephen Omuse’s charge sheet says that he assaulted Josephine Mapesa causing her grievous bodily harm.
The court was told that Omuse suspected that the woman was in a love triangle with another man.
He however denied the charges as was read before Senior Principal Magistrate Derrick Kuto.
Woman cried for help
According to the court papers, the woman was at her workplace when the accused person passed by and took her to his Kangemi home.
It is said he questioned her about the other relationship and assaulted her.
The woman cried out for help and the nearby neighbors intervened where the accused person was arrested and later arraigned.
Accused calls complainant to dock
In court, the accused person insisted that the complainant wanted to say something about the case.
When the complainant was taken to the dock she could she appeared emotional and uttered no word prompting the magistrate to grant the accused person a cash bail of Sh30,000.
The case will be mentioned for pretrial on February 27.
