The Four Were Fined
Four suspects arrested on Sunday by Nairobi City County Enforcement team have been arraigned in Cityhall court to face charges for selling
un-inspected meat at the Burma Mkt.
The four Amos Ng’ang’a, Aaron Kiptek, Josephine Wangeci, and Amos Mwangi were each fined shillings 30,00 or face upto four months in jail. The meat is set to be destroyed under supervision of the county.
The county government has recently heightened surveillance and impromptu inspection of meat joints in the city. Several people have been arrested and prosecuted in the process.

The operation was led by Philip Ocharo Director Investigations and Information Analysis.
Investigation Demands
Meanwhile the Nairobi Health Committee has demanded speedy investigation and vigilance at all meat outlets in the city.
“With this case we believe that we have other cases that are there unnoticed the inspectorate team must then move with speed and ensure those selling uninspected meat are brought to book.” Committee chairman Maurice Ochieng’ said.
“The four suspects should serve as an example to those selling uninspected meat .. it’s against public health act and our enforcement team must ensure all regulations are adhered to.” He added.
