KISUMU, Kenya Mar 4 – Kisumu County Government has suspended boda boda operations within Milimani and Tom Mboya estates following increased crime.
The move comes after residents complained of increased muggings, with many losing their phones criminals disguised as riders.
In one of the recent cases, a lady and her son were attacked in Milimani estate during an evening walk.
Kisumu county authorities have warned of serious consequences for anyone found flouting the rules.
”Any Bodaboda rider found operating in Milimani will be apprehended and legal action instituted against them,” stated a statement by the Kisumu city management.
According to the notice, any rider who wishes to operate within the area has to make prior arrangements with their clients to avoid getting in trouble with the law.
All the boda boda sheds within the Milimani area have now been rendered illegal as the county advised those operating there to look for alternative spaces.
