When Microsoft announced a version of Bing that supported ChatGPT last month, it brought back a sizeable user base to the search engine that has been playing second fiddle to Google for a long while now. However, not everyone had access to ChatGPT features as it was still in the trial phase, resulting in a huge waiting list.
However, as Windows Central has noticed, it appears that you can now sign up to the new Bing and instantly have access to the ChatGPT integration. It is worth noting that the sign-up page still reads “join the waiting list”, however, once you sign in, you instantly get access to the ChatGPT features.
Microsoft has their ‘Reinventing productivity with AI’ event today (March 16), where they might formally announce the change. Officially, the event is supposed to cover the integration of AI in their other products including Microsoft 365 suite and Dynamic 365
GPT-4 which has just officially become available to the public less than two days ago has taken a gigantic step forward with the model capable of now handling both text and images, compared to previous iterations which could only handle text. Microsoft explains that Bing’s implementation has already been running on the GPT-4 engine for the past five weeks.
OpenAI, the developers of ChatGPT, claim that GPT-4 is 82% less likely than GPT-3.5 to respond to requests for content that OpenAI does not allow. Basically, the model will be more tactful in identifying prompts that would result in answers that are unethical, illegal or could cause harm to others
Furthermore, the GPT-4 model is 60% less likely to come up with facts that are false. The previous model was accused by different quarters as being confidently wrong, coming up with statistics that are factually wrong.
Finally, as the change has not yet been made official by Microsoft, your mileage might definitely vary in getting access to ChatGPT features. However, as people are quickly getting accepted into the program, it is a positive sign that the tech giant is more confident about its product and has no problem in allowing more people into the new Bing.
