A woman has reportedly given birth at the corridors of Mama Lucy Hospital after she was allegedly denied entry into the maternity ward.
The baby reportedly died in the unfortunate incident that left the woman in the hands of fellow women.

Reports state that the watchman of the hospital locked the woman out denying her entry into the hospital.
A video that has widely been shared on the internet shows the woman lying on the floor wailing. Well-wishers who are fellow women are seen trying to help her push the baby.

There was however no sign of a medic in the vicinity in the video that had many desperate women trying to help the woman the vicinity.

“Mshike mguu, mshike mguu,”

one woman is heard in the video telling a fellow woman.

Esther Passaris condemns the incident.

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has condemned the incident calling on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to quickly put proper systems in place to avert such incidences in future.
“What happened at Mama Lucy is disheartening. I trust Governor Johnson Sakaja will enhance existing systems to prevent the technical hitch that blocked a pregnant Kenyan woman from accessing healthcare services at her most vulnerable moment.
“Maternal health is a fundamental right and should not be compromised,” stated Passaris.

Another woman bled to death.

The incident has come just a few months after a woman died while giving birth at the hospital.
Mr. Robert Omondi who is the husband to Maureen Anyango said that she bled to death after delivering twins at the hospital.
During an appearance at the Senate Health Committee Mr. Omondi stated that his wife bled for more than six hours before she died.
The incident caused uproar with some senators calling for the shutting down of the hospital.
Sakaja however pleaded with the committee not to shut down the facility calling for the transfer of the hospital from the central government to the county management.
