Kenya is set to pitch for more financial aid besides trade and investment partnerships with Japan ahead of the scheduled bilateral talks between president William Ruto and visiting Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
Fumio is also expected to pledge more support for Japanese funded projects in Kenya through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) particularly in Education and Infrastructure.
Kenya is a key market for the Japanese automobile industry.
Today morning, president Ruto and PM Fumio are expected to address the nation at State House in Nairobi to solidify the longstanding cordial relations between the two countries.
PM Fumio arrived in the country yesterday and was received by Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) accompanied by Energy CS Davis Chirchir.
The Japanese Prime Minister is on a two-day state visit.
Fumio is also set to meet with the Japanese business community, young volunteers and start-ups.
Yesterday, Kenya received a three-year financing programme worth Sh408billion from the African Export-Import Bank (AfrieximBank).
