National Soccer team Harambee Stars will be fully funded by the government as they prepare to take part in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
Speaking during the 2019 Beyond Zero marathon President Uhuru Kenyatta reaffirmed governments’ commitment to ensure that all national teams that are preparing to represent Kenya in international assignments gets the necessary support.
President Uhuru Kenyatta said Harambee stars and other national teams including Rugby and Athletics will get full government support as they prepare to take part in the international assignments.
Harambee Stars is set to face Ghana in their final 2019 Africa Cup of nations qualifier match next month.

The team has already qualified for the Continental event set to be held in Egypt in June.
The rugby team is taking part in the World Rugby series and currently they are in Vancouver Canada taking part in the 6th round o,f the IRB series.
The 2019 Beyond Zero Marathon titles went to Josephat Bett and Brilliant Kipkoech who emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s races respectively.
Bett completed the 21 kilometre race in 01 hour 01 minute and 34 seconds beating Philemon Rono to the second spot.
Simon Kirui finished third in 01 hour 01 minute and 40 second. In the women’s category Kipkoech finished first ahead of Evelyn Chirchir while Bornes Kitur completed the race in the third spot.
Former Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn flagged off the race that saw over 20,000 participants take part in the race.
Among those who took part in the races were First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge and the new Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.
