Public relations agency Ogilvy Africa and its clients won 11 out of 37 awards at the 2019 African SABRE Awards.

The win was alongside its clients Safaricom #ticker:SCOM, Coca-Cola, Kenya Airways #ticker:KQ, Unicef and the government of Ghana, Kosmos Energy Limited and Gold Fields Ghana.

The firm won in five categories. The Chapa Dimba na Safaricom campaign won in the Marketing-to-Consumer category while BLAZE by Safaricom took the lead in the Marketing to Consumers.

Kenya Airways topped the Consumer Products and Services category for launching direct flight from Nairobi to New York.

Ogilvy Africa CEO Mathieu Plassard said the win was an affirmation that the firm was helping brands reach targeted audiences through ideas that grab earned media and influence.

“These awards symbolise that we are moving with the times and our integrated communications approach is helping us solve our clients’ most pressing business challenges while reaching our targeted audiences,” said Mr Plassard.

Ogilvy Ghana won in the integrated marketing category for “Ghanaians against Child Abuse” in partnership with Unicef and Government of Ghana, as well as the mining and extractive industries category with Kosmos Energy Ltd.

The agency was also awarded certificates of excellence in superior achievement in brand-building category. This was due to launch of direct flight from Nairobi to New York.

It also won Gold Sabre Award for PR in Eastern Africa for Chapa Dimba na Safaricom, Food and Beverage category for Coca-Cola World Cup Campaign and Integrated Marketing category for Coca-Cola Africa Cup.

“Over the last years, in line with our integrated approach, we have assembled teams that deliver effective communication work for our clients in line with growing demand for strategic communication in an earned media world,” said Mr Plassard.

The awards will be presented on May 17 at a gala dinner during the African Public Relations Association’s annual conference in Kigali, Rwanda.
