  • The Dance Moms vet hopes that people feel comfortable and confidence when wearing her colorful collection.
  • Maddie also credits Sia for helping her embrace her style and personality.

Dance Moms vet Maddie Ziegler just added yet another super-exciting project to her ever-growing (and impressive!) resume: fashion designer. Her partner in clothing creation-crime? Kate Hudson.

On Friday, the 16-year-old launched her first activewear collaboration with Fabletics, MaddieXFabletics, which “captures Maddie’s love for dance and inspires you to feel your best from the moment you put it on.”

The colorful collection has been a work in progress since Kate and Maddie met on the set of Sia’s movie, Music, Us Weekly reports. As the story goes, Kate started bringing Fabletics items for Maddie to try out herself and soon asked the teen dancer to design for her activewear company. Her answer? Of course.

“Kate and Fabletics have already designed amazing things for Fabletics in the past, so I kind of took their pieces and put my own spin on it. I love color and I kind of wanted to bring my own personality to the clothes and that’s basically what this is,” Maddie explained in an interview with Us.

But bright hues that essentially match her bubbly personality (which has garnered a casual 13.1 million followers) weren’t Maddie’s only intention when designing her line. The judge of So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation opened up to Us, saying that she was also inspired by her own experiences wearing activewear.

“I struggle with confidence sometimes, especially in activewear, so I made sure that all of the leggings and crop tops are all very breathable and comfortable, but also are very flattering and hold you in in all the right places so that you don’t have to worry about checking to see what you look like in the mirror,” she said.

And this is especially important when you “literally live in activewear” and “comfy clothes” like Maddie, who even at such a young age is clearly not afraid to be herself—something she’s learned from pal Sia.

“I feel like she’s taught me to just be myself without trying to dress for others or try to impress anyone,” she told Us. “Just be yourself and wear what makes you happy.”

    Preach it, ladies!
