Why Chiromo Lane Will Be Closed From Saturday Until Next YearSonko’s administration will from this Saturday close off Chiromo Lane to members of the public until next year.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, Nairobi’s county secretary and head of county public service Pauline Kahiga said they will partially close Chiromo lane from June 15 to January 15, 2020.

The closure, she said, will facilitate completion of civil works on the underground tunnel across the lane that is being undertaken by AVIC international.

“During the said period, motorists are advised to follow traffic signs and guidance of traffic marshals on the site during the civil works,” Kahiga said.

The vehicular underground tunnel is for the Sh40 billion Global Trade Center in Westlands.

Christened ‘A Dream City and Community’, the Global Trade Centre sits on 7.5 acres at the intersection of Waiyaki Way and Chiromo lane – bordering Villa Rosa Kempinski, ARM Cement and Mirage Towers.

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Avic will also repair the lane that starts from Waiyaki way passing through Westlands road, Muthithi road, Mogotio road to Ojijo road.
