– Frank Lampard is in a pole position to succeed Maurizio Sarri as manager at Stamford Bridge

– Chelsea are understood to have agreed to pay Derby a compensation fee to sign Lampard

– The club’s owner has now pledged to allow the Englishman enough time at the club to mould a squad of his choice

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly ready to afford Frank Lampard some patience when the Englishman takes over as club boss.

The Blues are currently without a manager following the departure of Maurizio Sarri to Juventus after just one season in the Premier League.

Lampard is now in line to make a return to Stamford Bridge at the helm of affairs this summer.

Reports filtering through the UK contend the Derby boss could be announced new Chelsea manager in the next 48 hours.

But even with his imminent arrival, Lampard will come in at a time the west London side is grappling with a two-window transfer ban slapped by FIFA.

However, Abramovich is understood to have promised Lampard he would accord him different treatment, including allowing the 41-year-old enough time at the club to mould a squad of his own vision once the Blues can sign players again.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly accepted to offer Derby more than £4million in compensation fee to sign Lampard and his coaching team.

On their part, the Championship club confirmed they have granted the Blues permission to speak to Lampard.

The Chelsea legend could become the first English manager at the club since Glenn Hoddle 26 years ago.
