Staff at the Isiolo Law Courts sparked conversations online after raising Ksh.11, 000 to bail out a father of three.

This was after one of the staff ran into a 10-year-old girl crying in the corridors.

When he asked her what was the problem, the girl said that she was stranded as the court had not released her father.

The girl narrated how she had walked to the court with her elder brother carrying their two-year-old sibling.

They had hoped that the court would release their father.

However, after the hearing, their father was escorted to a prison located about half a kilometre away from the law courts.

Distraught and with no one to turn to, they broke into tears and stood outside the courtroom.

It was at that point that the man decided to rally his colleagues to help the accused who had only managed to raise Ksh.9000 for bail.

Within one hour, 30 workers, including police officers working at the court, a probation officer and a prosecutor had raised Ksh.11,500.

John Mugaa, the father of three from Kulamawe in Isiolo town, was then released to his children.

He had been arrested during a random inspection of food hawkers by Isiolo County public health officials.

Mugaa, who sells French fries by the roadside, was arrested for allegedly selling food in unhygienic conditions.

After he was released on Wednesday, Mugaa asked to meet the people that had bailed him out.

He was unable to contain his joy as he expressed gratitude to the court officers for the unexpected gesture.
