Act on those circulating misleading information, DCI urged – KBC

West Pokot Governor, Prof. John Lonyang’apuo, has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to clamp down on those misrepresenting facts on the Coronavirus using social media and other outlets.

Prof. Lonyang’apuo said this will enable the government to deal with the Coronavirus emergency in a more targeted way instead of the dissuasions caused by misreporting.

While urging locals to adhere to guidelines issued by the government on fighting the potential spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago called on residents who are bereaved to bury their loved ones within 24 hours and those attending the funerals must be less than 50 people.

Meanwhile, mourners at a funeral in Lessos in Nandi County Saturday quarantined those among them who had coughs as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus.

Organisers also ensured that all the rules pertaining to curbing the spread of the dreaded disease as outlined by the government was followed.

The microphones and Bibles used during the function were also sanitized after every speaker.
