Wahbi Khazri’s deflected free-kick in the 70th minute earned Tunisia a vital point against a resilient Mali side in an Africa Cup of Nations Group E encounter clash played on Thursday, June 28.
Tunisia who started the game strong went behind in the 60th minute after Diadie Samassekou scored his first goal for Mali from a corner kick after a mistake from goalkeeper Mouez Hassen.

But 10 minutes after, Tunisia were back on level terms as Khazri’s free-kick had a slight deflection on Mali striker Marega which deceived the goalkeeper Djigui Diarra, before finding its way into the net.

Khazri’s was twice denied a goal just before finding the back of the net.
His first shot from a direct free-kick hit the crossbar in the 5th minute and three minutes later, he tried catching Diarra who was off his line with a long range effort.
The goalkeeper however did well to recover as he parried the ball away.

But Mali were the ones who had chances to win the game as Moussa Marega was found free in the box with five minutes left to play but he fails to direct his header on goal as it goes wide.
With time running out, Mali were presented a glorious chance to win the game in the 90th minute.
Marega again had his chance to score but Tunisia goalkeeper Mouez Hassen redeemed himself after his earlier mistake as he pulled off a fine save to deny the Porto striker.

At the end, both teams held on to claim vital point as Mali move up to four points on the table as Tunisia move up to two points but are still chasing their first victory at the AFCON 2019 tournament.
They played a 1-1 draw against Angola in their first game where as Mali defeated Mauritania 4-1.
Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Mali’s Les Aigles have become the latest side to send a squad member packing from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
According to Kick-off citing Ghanasoccernet, striker Adama Niane, was barred from Mali national team after he allegedly slapped teammate and captain Abdoulay Diaby.
