All set for the final leg of NCBA Golf series at Sigona

The final  leg of the 2023 NCBA Golf Series is set to be hosted this Saturday, 16th September 2023 at the Par-72 Sigona Golf Club.

The final legs are also set to be held in three other east african countries that the series has been held.

In Tanzania the final leg is et to be held at Gymkhana Golf Club in Tanzania later this month and then the Kigali Golf Resort & Villas in mid-October, before heading to the Entebbe Golf Club at the end of October.

A field of over 200 golfers are expected to tee it up at the pristine par-72 golf course in Sigona for the last battle of a place in the  Grand Finale, which is set for December 1, 2023, at the same venue.

The Series, which teed-off in March this year, will see the overall winner, men’s category winner and runner-up, ladies’ category winner and runner-up and the junior category winner at each of the qualifier events play at the Grand Finale where the top prize will be a KES 100,000 cash award to each of the top three winners. These will be the Overall Winner, Men Winner, and Lady Winner.

So far, the event has been held across 13 golf clubs across the country, attracting the participation of over 2,300 golfers; with 78 players qualifying to play in the Grand Finale.

Speaking ahead of the Sigona tournament, NCBA Group Managing Director, John Gachora, remarked:

“We are thrilled with the progress of the series which teed-off earlier this year, marking our third golf series since its inception in 2021. This year’s Series has already attracted over 2,300 avid golfers, which is a testament to the appreciation for this event within the golfing community. We look forward to an exciting final round of golf in the Series at Sigona, which is expected to draw a record field being the last event in Kenya on the calendar.”

Sigona Golf Club’s captain Jimmy Kibugi expressed confidence of a successful event, noting the excellent course conditions and great turnout expected;

“We are delighted to welcome golfers to our course at Sigona Golf Club for the final qualifier event of the 2023 NCBA Golf Series in Kenya. Thanks to the recent rains, our greens are in impeccable condition, and our club members are well-prepared to take to the course. We are expecting a record turnout for the event, with most participants being club members who are well-acquainted with the course, and we therefore expect some good scores on the day.”
