Kenya Professional Boxing Commission Chairman Ruben Ndolo has said that they are organizing another big fight after hosting one of the biggest events over the weekend.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio Breakfast show Ndolo said that National heavyweight champion Morris Okola will challenge an American boxer to a fight in Nairobi next month hoping to build on the success of the Saturday’s bouts.
Ndolo attributed the outcome to a good marketing strategy that was brought about by the stakeholders pulling together in unity.
“Lack of unity has led to the decay of the game as you can see the stakeholders came together hence the results,” he said.
Tanzania’s Karim Mandonga “Mtu Kazi’ defeated Kenyan boxer Daniel Wanyonyi in a hyped event hosted at the Kenya International Convention Center (KICC) in Nairobi.
Kenyans trooped in numbers to watch the fight after Mandonga promised to treat them to a fight of its kind by unleashing a new fighting technique dubbed ‘Sungunyo.
The Event was graced by both the political class and a host of creatives.
Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna was in attendance, MPs Jalango and Mawathe former Kibra MP Imran was also present.
Ghetto Radio Boss Julius Owino Majimaji, Media personalities Ghost Mulee and Gidi also came through.
The music industry was well represented by the presence of several artists namely Bien (Sauti Sol),Bensol,Prezzo and KRG The Don just to mention but a few.
“If marketing is driven well it will attract sponsors who will see value for their money,” he added.
A Police Officer by proffesion, better known as ‘Maloso Maketho’ in boxing circles, Okola made his debut in 2011 by defeating James Nyariki (0-10) by points over four rounds.
The Kenyan southpaw went 3 consistent back to back victories against Joseph Ayieku, Robert Ochung, and James Nyariki again in a re-match.
