Amos Kirui from South Rift and World 5000 metres champion Hellen Obiri clinched the 10 kilometre national titles after emerging victorious in the national cross country championships held Saturday at the Eldoret Sports club.
Kirui who clocked 29 minutes and 50.5 seconds beat Evans Keitany to the second spot while Rogdgers Kwemoi settled for the third position in 29 minutes and 59.3 seconds.
Richard Kimunyan, Geoffrey Kamworor and Rhonex Kipruto completed the event in fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.
World 5000m champion Hellen Obiri won the women’s title after completing the event in 33 minutes and 14.9 seconds.

Beatrice Mutai finished second in 33 minutes and 24.3 seconds ahead of World 3000 metres steeplechase champion Beatrice Chepkoech who locked 33 minutes and 54.7 seconds.
The team which was selected will head to Kigari Teachers Training College for residential training ahead of the World Cross Country Championships set to be held in Aarhus, Denmark on 30th of next month.
