Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Sevilla starlet Antonio Zarzana, with the 17-year-old already on Mikel Arteta’s January wishlist.
Arteta is understood to be on the verge of becoming new Gunners permanent boss to replace Unai Emery who was recently sacked.
Mirror UK reports Arsenal and Man City have already reached an agreement over Arteta’s departure, and he could be named Gunners’ new manager in the next few hours.
And ahead of his appointment, Arteta is now said to have prioritised the signing of Zarzana, but will face competition from several other European clubs.
The Gunners have already made enquiries about the availability of the 17-year-old centre-midfielder, and should the club decide to make a move for the youngster, he could become Arteta’s first signing as manager at the Emirates.
Zarzana is highly rated in Spain and has been touted as one of the hottest prospects to emerge from Sevilla academy.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the teenage sensation, alongside Real Madrid who unsuccessfully tried to lure him to Bernabeu last year.
The youngster, who currently turns out for Sevilla’s B team reportedly snubbed the move as he is keen to make his debut for the senior team.
