Fans of newly promoted Premier League side Aston Villa have set their eyes on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama and want the Kenyan at villa Park come next season.
Mauricio Pochettino recently signed midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon in a club record deal of about £65 million; a transfer that could force Wanyama out of Spurs.
Daily Mail reported that Wanyama was among a list of players Spurs would sell as they build a stronger squad ahead of the 2019/20 English Premier League season.
With a new stadium and new objectives set in mind, Spurs are bound to transform this summer as Pochettino seeks to land his first silverware for the north London club.
Interestingly, the Kenyan skipper has won the affection of Lions fans who want Dean Smith to snatch up the defensive midfielder, as they embark on their historic return to the Premier League.
Spurs will reportedly part way with Wanyama, Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier, Vincent Janssen.
The English giants will also release younger players Josh Onomah, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Marcus Edwards this summer with Onomah also linked with a move to Villa Park.
Ndombele and the potential signing of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid would not be a threat for the more defense-minded Wanyama, but injury and inconsistency could play the deciding factor.
Wanyama, 28, barely had much playing time in the last two seasons with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko sealing spots in the starting line-up.
An injury plagued season saw Wanyama forfeit his place in the squad and become Pochettino’s back-up midfielder, as opposed to the central role he played in 2016/17’s Spurs squad.
