Idris Elba To Set Up Movie Studio In Tanzania
Hollywood actor Idris Elba is on the verge of putting up a mega film studio in Tanzania, the news was shared by the Tanzanian Director Of Presidential Communications,Zuhura Yunus.
This comes only a few days after Idris Elba and his wife met the Tanzanian Head Of State Samia Suluhu Hassan at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
According to the report, the Tanzanian studio will not only benefit the host nation but also the Eastern and Central African nations.
“Discussions on the project have just began and if successful the project will help not only Tanzania but also Eastern and Central Africa” Stated Zuhura
Idris Elba has deep African roots, his father is Ghanaian with his mother coming from Sierra Leone.
Of late, Idris has shown a keen interest in Africa as far the film industry is concerned.His latest film ‘Beast’ was shot in South Africa.
Idris is also best remembered for playing ‘Mandela:Long Walk To Freedom ‘, His other movies include American gangster, Takers and The Dark world (Thor) just to mention but a few.
Apart from his stellar career in acting,Elba is also an established musician cum disc jockey ,he uses DJ Big Driss as his stage name.
His exploits in the entertainment industry saw him named among the most influential people in the world by Time Magazine,2016.
It’s now time for Africa to tap in the expertise of it’s ‘Hollywood son’, the future now looks bright for the local movie world.
