A section of Azimio senators have walked out of the senate chambers protesting the election of speaker exercise.
The Senators led by Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang stated that they had requested the clerk of the Senate Jeremiah Nyegenye to suspend the elections, a request that he declined.
Kajwang stated that this is because nominated senators were not given the opportunity to appyly for deputy speaker.
“The clerk did not address the issues that we raised properly. We feel that the clerk was persuaded by the other side and we feel that today, the clerk acted in such a rush to make a ruling when we had all the time to dispense our issues, when we had all the time to allow our nominated senators to be part of this process…,” said Kajwang.

“We have decided that we are not going to be part of that charade and I can assure you that this will be a senate that will stand up for the rights of the people,” said Kajwang.
Azimio candidate Kalonzo Musyoka had a few minutes into the sitting pulled out of the senate speaker race.
Clerk Ngenyenye had confirmed the communication to the house.
