- Survey shows 25% of Kenyans grappling with hunger
A new poll released by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) Research has revealed that supporters of the Azimio La Umoja coalition are more likely to sleep hungry compared to their counterparts in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
The survey, which was conducted between March 11 and March 19, 2023, found that 20% of Azimio supporters reported often going to bed hungry, while 14% of Kenya Kwanza supporters reported the same.
The poll also found that 33% of Azimio supporters have slept hungry once in a while, compared to 26% of Kenya Kwanza supporters.
The high cost of living, hunger, drought, and unemployment were cited as the most frequently mentioned problems facing Kenyans.
The findings of the survey shed light on the challenges facing Kenyans, particularly in terms of access to basic necessities such as food.

Meanwhile the survey ranked Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and Education counterpart Ezekiel Machogu as the top most performing Cabinet Secretaries while Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi comes third.
Kindiki’s approval rating stands at 26%, he is followed by Machogu at 10% while Prime CS Mudavadi at 4%.
Among those respondents who indicated they could rate any member of the Cabinet 83%, most26% mentioned Prof Kithure Kindiki as the best performing so far.The only others with more than a handful of mentions were Ezekiel Machogu, and Musalia Mudavadi with 10% and 4% respectively,”
the survey indicated.
According to the survey, Kindiki’s approval score was highest because he is at the forefront in tackling crime in the country.
